Veterans, VA Research & Links

IVREF assists in expanding biomedical research by obtaining funding not otherwise available to VA researchers.

Advancements in VA biomedical research have produced thousands of scientific breakthroughs in human healthcare, vastly improving the diagnoses, procedures, and treatments for individuals and populations around the world. Supporting biomedical research is critical to improving our understanding of human diseases and the development of innovative therapeutic strategies for Veterans, their families, and our nation.

Take a look at VA Research in Action, a listing of examples of research performed at the VA (from the 1950s to present) that has translated to implementation of new practices at the VHA and public medical facilities:  https://www.research.va.gov/research_in_action/default.cfm.

The newsletter VA Research Currents will keep you informed with its regular updates of major research matters at the VA: https://www.research.va.gov/currents/.
